Breaking the Cycle of Child Sexual Abuse

Our Program

Parents United is a non-profit organization focused on all aspects of child sexual abuse. We support families who have been affected by this trauma in many ways by dealing with the issue from a holistic approach. For children and adults, we offer one-on-one and group therapy, family treatment when appropriate, and a variety of classes ranging from positive parenting, anger management, assertiveness training and domestic violence, just to name a few.

The aim of our program is to break the cycle of child sexual abuse! We strive to help bring understanding, facilitate healthy healing, and address the issues surrounding sexual abuse through appropriate treatment so families and individuals can restore and have healthy and meaningful lives in the future. We also try to stop the cycle of this abuse through prevention education to the general population.

What is Molest?

Child sexual abuse, or child molest, is any contact between an adult and a child or an older child and a younger child, which results in sexual gratification for the older person. This includes, but is not limited to inappropriate touching, exposure, rape, verbal abuse and the viewing or creating of pornography.

What is the Extent of the Problem?

1 in 3 girls and 1 in 4 boys are sexually abused before their 18th birthday. Of those children 22% of the incidents occurred before the age of 5 and 85% before the age of 10.

One of the top 3 reasons teens run away from home is due to molest.

The average length of silence is 7 years.

The offender is usually not a stranger, but someone close to the child. The offender can be a family member or a close family friend. Molest occurs equally among all races and religions, regardless of economic status or level of education, although currently 80% of all offenders are male.

Result of Child Sexual Abuse

Most child victims never report their abuse. These children are at a much higher risk for physical, emotional, psychological and social problems that can last a lifetime.

They need your help!

92% of offenders were physically, emotionally or mentally abused as children and 82% of offenders were victims of molest.

We treat ALL aspects of Child Sexual Abuse to stop the cycle.

Less then 1% of offenders who complete the program at Parents United  re-offend.
